Thanks to Mena and Kay for the fridges! They are now installed and making our work easier.
Thanks to the council for giving us permision to use the plaza for our secondhand stall on market days. We hope this will bring in donations and funds, and provide a contact point for those wishing to help us.
Times are a bit flexible as we start up, more details later.

Thanks to all the donations we have received we have been able to provide a good, nourishing meal at Christmas and New Year for the many people on our list. The list is growing every day, so please keep the donations coming in!
We have been given the use of a storeroom ('locale') in Arguineguin, on the seafront, down the steps from the La Caja Bank, for 3 months. It is very bare, we urgently need shelves and tables, and a fridge and freezer. We collect and distribute food from here. The opening hours are 11-12 a.m, Mon/Wed/Fri and by arrangement when we get in fresh produce or donations.

We are working with an increasing number of local families and elderly persons who desperately need help.
Why not donate the price of a meal and /or some basic clothing to someone who needs it?
Support the food collection; it continues all year this year. Look out for our baskets labelled OPERACION KILO in supermarkets. Buy an extra item or two and donate it to those in need. Or give a donation to a Lions member; contact me at lcamgc@yahoo.com for details.

Children in Spain get their Christmas presents when the Three Kings visited the infant Jesus, 6 January. On the evening of the 5th there is a procession leading the Kings through the town. Lions gave donated toys to children who would not otherwise have received any. It was a touching experience to see the delight on the faces of these children; I have never seen children so happy to get so little. It was also a joy to see the relief and pleasure on the mothers' faces.
We only had toys for small children, so I gave one mother 10 euros for her teenager. After some hesitation she accepted, saying 'now I can buy shoes for her'.
So little can make such a difference. It's good to be a LION!
There are no photos of this event, for obvious reasons.

Thank you all for your donations of money, toys, clothes and TV's!

THE TOY COLLECTION was a big success and something we will repeat year after year.
We got LOADS of toys, mostly in very good condition, some brand new! Most were for toddlers and young girls, evidently boys don't take care of their toys! A big thank you to everyone who has donated, we got lots of things through Round Town News and Canariposten.
A lot of toys were given to people we help in Arguineguin. A carful went to the children's home in San Fernando before Christmas, another to Ingenio to be distributed through our member from there and another long term supporter. Some few were sold to make cheap toys available for poor parents/grandparents and to raise money for Food Today. The few that are left, and any more that come in will be given out before los Reyes.
We got 2 TV's; they were not sold and will be auctioned or advertised for sale or given to a childrens' home. A big thank you to the givers!
We didn't get any sports equipment or bicycles, which we would have liked. We have someone to repair bikes and we are looking for someone to repair computers, if anyone wants to give those. WE WOULD ALSO LIKE TO THANK OUR VOLUNTEERS! ********************** FOOD TODAY : HOPE FOR TOMORROW The congregation of the Norwegian Church have donated a lot of money to help the poor and homeless in Arguineguin. Thank you all so much! We have been able to provide good, nourishing meals at Christmas and New Year for all the people we are helping.
